“A steady practice helps me appreciate peace in the space between.”
Julie began practicing yoga in 2001 as a way to find balance and peace in a world of abundant change. And, like many, she aspired to ease a stressed body and mind. A lifelong athlete, she was immediately drawn to the powerful practices of Ashtanga and Baptiste which are physically and mentally challenging while being incredibly meditative, inspiring and steeped in tradition.
Today, her practice incorporates many styles of yoga and meditation. In 2003, she completed a 60 hr. month-long Ashtanga Yoga intensive. She then obtained her 200 hr. training with Tricia Philpott. More recently she completed Power of Awareness meditation program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach as well as Foundations of Yin Yoga with Bernie Clark and is completing a ParaYoga Nidra immersion program with Rod Stryker.
Julie encourages her students to be present, to connect with their body and mind, and to challenge their limits and conventional thinking. By emphasizing the connection between breath and movement, she aims to create a powerful moving mediation where her students can relax into the flow and get lost, if only for a second, in the moment.
